• Journeyman: 3 years minimum of proven technical construction, demonstrate ability to read plans, and professional quality of workmanship– preferred experience in carpentry

 

• Apprentice: No previous experience needed – eagerness to learn via job shadowing and excellent works ethic.

 

• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation for job site access. 
• Provide 1 page resume or list of experience, education and technical training
• Starter tool kit available for apprentices, ownership of tools earned by active employment.

 

Journeyman Position Summary 

A Journeyman Craftsman is an integral piece of a job site’s day-to-day growth. Craftsmen with Elev8 308 will be required to execute technical tasks involving tactful physical labor on residential and light commercial projects both large and small. A Journeyman Craftsman will demonstrate knowledge and expertise to execute a wide array of construction-oriented assignments while operating a variety of hand and power tools. They will operate and manage in a construction setting from a project's start until its completion.  They may assist other trade workers to hit deadlines. Journeyman craftsmen must be skilled, autonomous at times, proactive, and to an appropriate level, be able to navigate as well as lead and train others through the complexities found within all facets of construction.
 

Apprentice Position Summary 

An Apprentice Craftsman is an able-bodied and eager-minded individual who can operate as a team player while learning various construction trades. Apprentices will also be required to execute technical tasks under the guidance of more experienced personnel. An Apprentice Craftsman will demonstrate a willingness to train and learn a wide array of construction-oriented assignments while operating a variety of hand and power tools. They will perform tasks of varying difficulty from a project's start until its completion.  They may assist other trade workers to hit deadlines. 
 

Journeyman Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
● Perform a variety of tasks involving technical based manual labor in a construction setting
● Utilize previous construction experience to complete various scopes of work in an efficient and timely manner
● Demonstrate ability to Read blueprints and spec sheets to carry out required scope of work, scan for any gaps in information and fill in or request additional information.
● Work professionally in a group setting to include other employees, trades, and clients alike
● Openly train or provide leadership to other team members by offering insights and opportunities around improvement using past successes and learnings.  
● Ensure that proper job site safety and quality control procedures are followed; bring problems to the attention of the group
● Technical expertise in areas of framing, siding, windows and doors, trim carpentry, flooring, and beyond
● Demonstrated ability to use the wide range of construction tools properly and with safety adherence
●Properly handle and store materials 
 
 
 

Apprentice Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
● Perform a variety of tasks involving technical based manual labor in a construction setting
● Familiarity with tools of residential construction and proper use of
● Train under Master/Journeyman Craftsmen to complete various scopes of work in an efficient and timely manner
● Work professionally in a group setting to include other employees, trades, and clients alike
● Ensure that proper job site safety and quality control procedures are followed; bring problems to the attention of the group
● Properly handle and store materials with training
 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Journeymen expected to understand and operate at a higher level than apprentices)

• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment
• Any combination of education and/or construction experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
• Journeyman expected to own and provide their own hand tools and miscellaneous tool kit items, starter hand tool kit will be provided to apprentices that can be earned back over time through active employment.  Elev8 will provide all power tools, larger items, and equipment.
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in construction
• General knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
• Must be presentable in a professional and clean manner
• Must be able to utilize critical thinking skills to navigate diversity with a clear mind and attitude
• Ability to:
  • work independently and/or with a team to complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
  • communicate orally and in writing
  • use equipment and tools properly and safely
  • understand, follow and delegate written and oral instructions
  • meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

Pay

• Based on experience Journeyman starting at $19/hr, Apprentices starting at $15/hr with a review taking place at 60 days to adjust as necessary to ensure fair compensation for quality of work proven to be offered consistently
• Salary position available to the right candidate after an assimilation period

• Majority of time will be working within 1 hour of Burwell/Ord area and home nearly every evening
