Service Technician

Position Overview:
The Service Technician is primarily responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of farm equipment and processing equipment, including tractors, planters, mowers, balers, rakes, gravity bed, treater, and other equipment. This role ensures all equipment is kept in a safe, reliable working order to support efficient farm operations.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to operate all forms of equipment. Examples are combines, tractors, trucks, forklifts, and numerous forms of implements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on farm and processing machinery such as tractors, planters, mowers, balers, rakes, and all processing equipment.
  • Ability to weld.
  • Electrical skills.
  • Carpentry skills.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment parts and order supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with management to prioritize maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with other farm operations as needed, including equipment setup and fieldwork support.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that machinery complies with safety standards.
  • Regularly communicate work completed – and equipment observations – to management
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, at times taking the lead and at other times being able to receive instructions. 
  • Maintain an annual and organized service record of all equipment. Make suggestions for repairs, replacements, and improvements.
  • Would work as a team member with other team leaders at times, and have the responsibility of maintaining the safety and operation of the company's assets
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods during maintenance tasks.
  • Must be able to work long hours throughout different periods of the year.
  • Must be able to work weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have a High School diploma or other job experience.
  • Keen eye for details and organizational skills.
  • Experience with the maintenance and repair of agricultural equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic recordkeeping skills.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new equipment and technologies.
Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Supervisory responsibilities may be assigned seasonally or project-based, depending on production demands.
