Seed Processing Operator

About the Role
Zangger Popcorn Hybrids is seeking a Seed Processing Operator to support the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our seed processing and treating systems. This is a hands-on, operations-focused role that plays a critical part in ensuring seed quality, inventory accuracy, and timely fulfillment of customer demand.
The Seed Processing Operator works closely with production, quality, and operations teams to execute processing workflows, maintain accurate records, and support equipment upkeep. This role is well suited for individuals who are mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a production environment with seasonal intensity during planting and harvest. This role is performed in a seed processing and warehouse environment and may involve dust, noise, temperature variation, and exposure to treated seed.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain all seed processing, precleaning, drying, treating, and ear shelling equipment.
- Maintain accurate processing, treating, precleaner, harvest-to-processing, and inventory logs.
- Assist with physical inventory movements and reconciliations.
- Participate in process assessment, improvement, and standardization of processing workflows.
- Service, adjust, and repair processing equipment as required. Assist with drying and precleaning operations involving boxes and bins.
- Organize and assist with loading and distribution activities.
- Maintain availability for extended hours during peak operational periods, particularly planting and harvest. Work schedules vary seasonally and may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
Qualifications
- Ability to operate a wide range of agricultural equipment and demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude related to processing and plant operations.
- Proven ability to service, adjust, and repair processing equipment.
- Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a fumigation license and seed treatment license (training and support provided).
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to perform job-related physical tasks, including routinely lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
