Protecting the Plains: Raising Nebraska’s Volunteers event has been scheduled to be held Saturday April 14th and Sunday April 15th 2012 at Fort Hartsuff. This truly amazing site be the host of a spring muster and garrison impression event. Below are details and ideas. This will primarily be an infantry event.
Date: April 14 and 15(Saturday-Sunday)
Where: Fort Hartsuff State Historical Park - Turn off Highway 11 at Elyria, NE (between Ord and Burwell, NE)
What: Spring Muster and Garrison Impression event - Life on a frontier post 1860’s era
By whom: Fremont Pathfinders(Fremont, NE) 1st Nebraska, Co. C(Kearney, NE), Pettit’s Battery(Hastings, NE, Venture Crew Civil War Troop(Lincoln, NE)

8:00: raise colors
8:15: post guard detail and any fatigue duties (Post activities/downtime)
9:30: infantry drill
11:45: assembly (canteens and haversacks, no muskets or leathers)
12:00: mess (lunch)
1:30: barracks inspection by post C.O. and surgeon
2:00: assembly, sick call, health inspection by post surgeon
2:30: assembly, pay day, laundress/quartermaster payrolls
3:00: infantry drill "target practice"
4:15: inspection
4:30: evening parade
4:45: lower colors
5:00: Fort Hartsuff closes
Sunday: Will have a similar schedule, later reveille and time for Sunday services. Event will end mid
afternoon.
