Antique Appraisal Fair at Fort Hartsuff
On Saturday, July 6th, Fort Hartsuff State Historical Park will be hosting the 2nd Annual Antique Appraisal Fair featuring professional antique and coin appraiser, Tom Bassett. This will take place on the veranda of the Enlisted Men's Barracks from 2-4 p.m.
Tom Bassett conducts professional appraisals fro banks, law firms, and estates and is known for conducting Nebraska's largest antique appraisal when appraised Pioneer Village in Minden, NE in 1983.
A professional auctioneer for 10 years, Tom teaches classes at Southeast Community College on antiques and coins; is a regular guest on KFOR show "Problems and Solutions" where he answers listeners call-in questions on researching antiques and collectibles and is the former President of the Lincoln Coin Club, the Nebraska Numismatic Association, and a longtime member of the New England Appraiser Association.
Tom's unique version of the Antique Road Show has been well received by audiences throughout the Midwest. The public is welcome to bring items for Tom to appraise. The Fort asks that people wanting to bring items for appraisal, call the Fort to pre-register their items or bring you items by Saturday, July 6th before noon. There will be a $5 charge per item to be appraised with a 2-item limit.
The North Loup-Scotia Community Theatre will also be performing a participation melodrama on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at teh Enlisted Men's Barracks.
Immediately following the melodrama, Tom will conduct his antique appraisals from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Vendors are welcome to set up tables or tents on the parade grounds as well, free of charge, on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be antique vendors, soap makers, leather crafter, blacksmith, and more.
