SUMMARY:Board Master Training for Non-Profit Organizations
DESCRIPTION:Non-profit founders\, volunteers and paid staff for non-profit organizations are invited to attend the Board Masters training in Ord on Wednesday\, October 24 from 4:30-8:30 pm.\n\n\n\nThe training and materials will be provided by Nebraska Extension and the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands and provide nonprofits all the latest information needed to keep organizations compliant and operating smoothly.\n\n\n\nTopics covered in the training include: \n\n\n\nMission & Vision\, Board Structure & Meaningful Engagement\n\n- Nonprofit organization lifecycles and nonprofit board stages \n\n- Mission\, vision and strategic goals \n\n- Community relations \n\n- Committees \n\n- Board oversight vs. management  \n\nFinances & Compliance \n\n- Reviewing bylaws\n\n- Sarbanes-Oxley implications for nonprofits \n\n- Financial systems \n\n- Role of finance committee \n\n- Form 990\n\n- Financial management responsibilities: board vs. staff\n\n- Risk and crisis management \n\nRecruitment\, Team Building\, Continuous Improvement & Evaluation \n\n- Board member recruitment\, onboarding and evaluation\n\n- Fundraising expectations\n\n- Board chair and Executive Director relationship \n\n- Succession planning \n\n- Basic board assessment and action planning \n\n- Improving board meetings \n\n\n\nAlthough not required\, multiple people from your organization are encouraged to attend in order capitalize on brainstorming and ideas that evolve from the session and communicating it back to other members of your board or organization.\n\n\n\nRegistration fee: \n\n1 person per organization = $25/person \n\n2 people per organization = $23/person\n\n3 people per organization = $21/person \n\n4+ people per organization = $19/person\n\n\n\nRegistration fees include dinner and all materials. \n\n\n\nThis training is being sponsored by the Valley County Economic Development Endowment and the Valley County Community Foundation Fund with support from the Central Community College Ord Learning Center. \n\n\n\nFollow the Facebook event.
